10 Things About Me

Oh dear. So I have been tagged by Jessica to share 10 weird or little known things about me... hopefully I can entertain/enlighten you without embarrassing myself too much!

1. When I was 10 years old, I had a such a huge crush on Ricky Schroeder that I used the 110mm camera I'd just received for Hanukkah to take a picture of him... on TV... in that episode of Silver Spoons where he wore a tuxedo.

2. I idolized Bobby Kennedy growing up, so on the anniversary of his death each year I'd wear black. This started when I was around 14 and ended when I was around 20 or 21.

3. Though I'm a University of Vermont graduate, I've never been skiing in my life. And I have no desire to ever go skiing, which confuses my vegetarian husband from Texas.

4. I used to be an Assistant Manager at the Gap. And I still to this day can't go into a Gap without straightening up tables, or wanting to write up employees having personal conversations while ringing up customers.

5. In elementary school, I was so jealous that my two best friends wore glasses that I'd sit really close to the TV watching Solid Gold in order to ruin my eyesight. 25 years after I gleefully got my first pair, I can't see the time on the digital alarm clock in the morning when I wake up.

6. My first pet was a blue parakeet named Peeper.

7. Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles on my 9th birthday, and Jennifer Aniston married Brad Pitt on my 28th birthday. It might thus be considered unwise to marry on 29 July.

8. The summer after graduating college, I worked as a nanny in Redding, Connecticut. I looked after a sweet, two-year-old boy named Drew.

9. I met my oldest friend, Risa, thirty years ago in kindergarten.

10. I love to eat a bowl of cold kidney beans smothered in barbecue sauce on nights when we "graze." This uncouth habit repulses my oh-so-refined husband, he who farts in public and drinks water straight from the faucet.

I am now tagging Laurie, Rachael, and Leslie!

Too funny about Ricky Schroder! I'm right there with you on having loved him one day. So funny to see how icky old "Rick" turned out.

The beans and sauce sounds like cold vegetarian BBQ to me. Dump some Fritos in there next time to jazz it up.

oh i've seen the beans!

i'm kinda proud that i knew some of these and if i had learned them earlier i would have talked about ricky schroder as much as possible. he lived in grand junction when i did and we saw him riding a horse on our trail once.
