meet mr. and mrs. honey bunny

one reversible bunny just wasn't enough to satisfy me, so i went and made another from purl's oh-so-versatile best bunnies pattern. and now this "pair" is easily the project i can declare as having been my favorite to date.

i call them mr. and mrs. honey bunny, and i like to think of them as a retired couple in their early 70s, out on a date to a supper club or dinner theater in the mid-1960s. her dress reminds me of the one my great grandma belle wore to my parents' wedding, actually. and she's missing some bling, so i might have to go back and add that sometime. because what little i remember of belle, aside from her diminutive stature and big pink hair, was her blaringly tacky bling.

mr. bunny is sporting some pretty special burberry plaid, courtesy of none other than ... the salvation army. his honey is wearing a felted wool sweater dress, with some alpaca-silk-blend french knot detailing. i used the same cream wool felt from brooklyn general for his collar and her eyes. they're stuffed with nature-fil, which i highly recommend as a natural alternative to polyfil. it has the same spring to it, which is pretty important, i think, when making a softie that needs to be cuddly and huggable.
